Lillyblossom was created in 2007 by Helen Newton, who was born and brought up in Chester. Helen wanted to share her love of sewing and creating handmade unique items with a difference. She loves to create one-of-a-kind pictures using ‘freemotion’ machine embroidery. Most of her ideas are sketched first then the fabric is cut to fit and secured freehand with machine stitches. Many designs are then finished by hand with French knots, sequins and beads. The pictures are stretched and backed before she frames them in white wooden deep frames or embroidery hoops with ribbon hanging loops.
Helen buys most of her fabric and sewing equipment in Chester supporting local business and is currently hoping to have her pictures and embroidery kits stocked in retail outlets on her doorstep in Cheshire. To date Helen has sold more than 3000 items through her Esty shop online including her own range of more than 30 digital sewing patterns for beginners.
Helen has also worked freelance for Mollie Makes, Sew Magazine and has had projects published including her felt wreath design and book cover.
Helen is currently working on a range of embroidery kits in various designs but her favourite work is custom orders or commissions and says “I get a real buzz making personalised pictures for customers adding names and dates etc. for special events such as weddings, baby showers or Christenings”
